Final Word Count Wednesday

This is it the last word count Wednesday
I can honestly say I will miss them
So goodbye word counts goodbye

What am I working on?

As I'm sure many of you are, I'm working on my portfolio. Gathering the experiments and finishing up some poems I can't wait to turn it all in.

What do I think about the process?

It has been an absolute blast and I'm happy to see it all come together but sad to see it go.

A final farewell to a fun and inspiring professor and a class filled with students with creativity that knows no bounds keep on writing and get published.

Word Count Friday

A late Word Count Wednesday

I've been sick so here is my word count

What have I been working on

Well for the past several days I've been working on the drama scene. I've thrown around a couple ideas until I found one that I really enjoyed and that I could have a lot of fun with. Hopefully all goes well and I can create something decent.

How has the process been?

Short story, hard. I have never done anything like this before so I was unprepared. It took me awhile to come up with an idea and a lot longer to start writing. It is fun writing only dialogue and letting the characters tell the story.

What have I been reading?

Nothing right now.

Word Count Wednesday #14

What am I working on?
I've started to think about ideas for my next chapter I've written down a few things but nothing really as of yet.

How do I feel about the process?

It is definitely a lot harder than I ever thought it was going to be. I want to not only please myself but make it so that people want to read it. It's a tough balance but I'm going to keep trying.

What am I reading now?

Still pushing through The Road

Word Count Wednesday #13

What am I working on?
I've taken a bit of a break after writing my second chapter but I'm going to give slam poetry a shot and see what I can do with it.

How do I feel about the process?

I was pleased with my second chapter but I haven't figured out exactly where the book is going. But I'm excited to see what slam poetry brings to the table and what I can do with it.

What am I reading now?

Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf for my other English class.

Word Count Wednesday #12

What am I working on?
I've just been working on my second chapter for the submission.

How do I feel about the process?

It has been good so far, I've introduced new characters and I'm enjoying discovering who they are and their purpose in my narrative.

What am I reading now?

Lately, nothing to be honest.

Word Count Wednesday #11

What am I working on?

My novel. After the last submission I've gone back and tried to figure out exactly what I wanted to do and I'm still trying to figure that out. I've started to write an alternate version of my book this time with a new lead and the two cops coming in later as minor characters. I also have thought about the plot more and where I might want to take but so far nothing concrete.

How do I feel about the process?

It's tricky, to be honest. Finding out what will work what characters go well together and the overall appeal of the story are things that have proven to be quite the challenge.

What am I reading now?

Still just reading The Road and blogs.

Word Count Wednesday #10

What am I working on?

After the character building we did today in class I've decided to use that character in a story. When I finished writing the first chapter of my novel, I wasn't entirely happy with the outcome therefore I want to take a different approach this time using this new character.

How do I feel about the process?

I have always been one to make up a character as I wrote, but after today's activity I've  been exposed to a whole new world of character building. Moving forward I plan on always creating a character in depth before writing their story.

What am I reading now?

I am still reading and having a lot of fun with The Road.

Word Count Wednesday #9

What am I working on?

Not much. I've just been working on the same projects as well as tinkering with a few ideas for some of the experiments.

How do I feel about the process?

It has been a relaxing process just writing what I want when an idea pops into my head.

What am I reading now?

I finally was able to pick back up The Road and have been reading that for the last couple of days.

Word Count Wednesday #8

I hope everyone is having a wonderful spring break.

What am I working on?

I have not been working on much this week just spring break fun but I have bought a small notebook that I can carry around. After we talked about how to get more writing in I thought hey! let's give this a try. As someone who prefers writing with a pen, it seemed perfect. I've only written down random thoughts so far but hopefully something more concrete in the future.
About 300 words

How do I feel about the process?

I love it. I feel like I feel more accomplished when writing something down. So I'm excited to see where this goes.

What am I reading now?

Not much still just taking my time through On Writing.

Word Count Wednesday #7

What am I working on?

After learning about experiment #7 I am very excited to get started. I already have a few ideas jumping around in my head and can't wait to put something down on paper. I'm not sure where this experiment will take me and I can't wait to see what is the final result.

How do I feel about the process?

While reading the chapter I was able to come up with ideas that were shot down and eventually more ideas that fit the definition well. I have yet to write anything but I expect it to be fun and maybe even a little challenging.

What am I reading now?

I'm catching up on Stephen King's On Writing as well as reading a few of the chapters in 20 Master Plots.

Word Count Wednesday #6

First I wanted to say fantastic job to those who presented today and I can't wait to listen to the rest of them.

WHAT AM I WORKING ON?

After a few weeks of not working on much of anything I've started to get back into the swing of things. After spending time on the narrative assignment I have been actively trying to not only progress the story but to make the necessary changes for a more congruent novel. I've changed quite a few things that I believe has made the story a better read. More recently I have written a short poem only a few stanzas so far. I'm not sure if I'm going to add much more to it at this time.

HOW DO I FEEL ABOUT THE PROCESS?

The process so far has been incredible. My creativity is flowing once again and I am eager to sit down and write more of whatever comes to my mind whether it's for my novel or for something brand new.

WHAT AM I READING NOW?

I'm reading On Writing as well as a few poems from the Victorian Era for my English Literature class (fun stuff) and of course as many blogs as I can sink my teeth into.

Word Count Wednesday # 5

WHAT AM I WORKING ON?

I've thought of a few more ideas for my novel and have been reading the works of my fellow housemates and can't wait to provide them with feedback.

HOW DO I FEEL ABOUT THE PROCESS?

Listening to the creative works of everyone else in the class has allowed me to start planning future events within in my own work. The creative juices are flowing, I'm excited and I hope everyone else is as well!!!

WHAT AM I READING NOW?

I just read The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for the first time. I have always heard about it but this was my first time sitting down and reading it for myself. I definitely recommend it.

Word Count Wednesday #4

WHAT AM I WORKING ON?

I'm glad House Wishword was the first to present it has allowed me to present an idea to the class and get much needed constructive feedback. So with that, I have started to go back and revise certain parts of my story. cLeaning up confusing parts and making the realistic aspects more believable.

HOW DO I FEEL ABOUT THE PROCESS?

I have never written anything the size of a novel(mostly essays and a few short creative works)so I'm excited to go through the process and see what I can accomplish. While I was nervous presenting my work the feedback I received was much needed. So I thank everyone for listening to my first attempt and opening my eyes to different ways to improve my story.

WHAT AM I READING NOW?

I'm still reading the blogs and loving every moment of it. Keep up the creative work everybody!!!

Run Toto Run!!!

Toto was fed up with Dorothy after her damn theatrical visit to the World of Oz and decided that he needed to get as far away from her and her damn basket as possible. In a rush, he filled a small sack with the most important things (a squeaky toy and some kibble) and ran as far as his little legs could him. To the airport, he thought, I need to get on the first plane out of Kansas. Out of breath and kibble, he arrived at the airport to find that this was the worst place he had ever been fortunate enough to visit. Impatient rude people, swearing, smoking, just the most foal of individuals congregating in a festering pit of filth. Well, actually this was paradise compared to the flying monkeys and the town where no one would ever shut the hell up. It was even better than being around Dorothy, we get it you’re going to see a wizard whoopty-freakin-doo. But he was a dog may I remind you not allowed to casually walk onto a plane not to mention he didn’t have any money to buy a ticket. He was expected to first have an owner on the same flight and second had to be stored with all the luggage and cargo. Excuse me no thank you he had rights, or so he thought, I can have a seat like everyone else. You see society had neglected dog’s civil rights and this frustrated Toto. So, like any dog in his situation he took the only rational approach he could think of. He decided he would stand in the middle of the Security Checkpoint line and cause a scene. He demanded civil rights for canines and felines (yes even felines, Toto was a generous dog) and for his voice to not only matter but to carry weight. But you see Toto spent too much time in Oz, where scarecrows make friends, lions walk on two legs and a tin can is able to talk. Here he was nothing more than a freakin dog and while with a sophisticated tongue eloquently defended his views he was still a dog and no matter how he spoke people ultimately saw a dog. Let me emphasize this point so you really understand, he was a damn dog so no one could hear him, all he did was bark and bark and bark. People stared amazed that a mutt had somehow wandered into the airport. Was he a stray or someone’s pet? No matter Security had already contacted Animal Control. Within minutes they were on the scene. Nets in hand they approached the crazed beast, cautiously, unsure if or when he’d attack. Toto saw these men hunched over slowly inching closer. He became uneasy. Poor Toto overcome with anxiety lead to him urinate right there in the middle of the Security Line. People began to scream “AHHHHHH the dog pissed everywhere Jesus F’ing Christ” while they recorded the entire altercation with their iPhones, iPads and the one guy with the Android (there’s always one). Toto, frightened, bit one of the men almost detaching his index finger from the rest of his hand. The airport erupted into panic and chaos. Luggage frantically flew through the air. People screaming bloody murder scattered, trampling elderly women, and shoving small children out of the way in an attempt to reach the EXIT. Toto sat there covered in urine and blood and still the men approached, this time they held a contraption of which Toto has never seen before. Confused he sat there staring at the man, he felt a sharp pain, his vision became blurry and he blacked out. When he arose from his deep slumber he found himself in a familiar room in a familiar house. He panicked, “OH SHIT!!!” he said trying to catch his breath, he was home in his bed and across the room he saw that damn basket. “Oh please no” he hoped as Dorothy walked in. He gasped and woke up. “It was just a dream thank you God” surrounded by metal and dogs foaming at the mouth. It was a relief “Okay this is why we don’t have any rights, got it.” Toto thought as he glanced around the room to find dogs licking themselves sniffing ass and eating their own and each other’s crap. No matter, he was at peace until his nightmare came true and that bitch with a smile on her face walked through the pound doors. Toto died that day. Poor innocent Toto.

-THE END-

Word Count Wednesday #3

WHAT AM I WORKING ON?

I've started a chapter book that I will be completing the first chapter of for Submission Day. I have also been working on completing The Morning Dew poem and in a few days upon request from my house, I will be posting the Fantasy-Realism story that I wrote.

Total Word Count: 1,941

HOW DO I FEEL ABOUT THE PROCESS?

I'm really enjoying the process of writing both short stories and a chapter book. Today after experiencing the first drafting day I have been opened to the idea of sharing work. I have been on the fence about doing so in fear that people would not enjoy my writing but after reading and sharing a short story I'm more inclined to post and receive feedback.

WHAT AM I READING NOW?

I have put down the other novels I was reading for now as to focus on writing my own stories but have had a blast reading other people's blogs their stories and what they have to say.

Word Count Wednesday #2

WHAT AM I WORKING ON?

I've started to work on a few more poems one titled The Morning Dew and the other has yet to be named. I'll be posting The Morning Dew in a few days since I want to make a few more tweaks before it's ready for my blog. I've also continued to work on the fable-realism experiment which has been a really fun project one of which I have really enjoyed.

HOW DO I FEEL ABOUT THE PROCESS?

The Fable-Realism Experiment has been an absolute blast. It has allowed to incorporate so many ideas from works of fiction to the most realistic aspects of everyday life. Since I've used a fictional character as my protagonist I've been able to take their life and spin it completely around for my own amusement. I can't wait to finish it. I have really started to get into the swing of things by trying out more experiments and making writing an everyday priority.

WHAT AM I READING NOW?

I'm still reading the same books as I was reading last week but because it is required material I've also been reading On Writing by Stephen King which is surprisingly interesting, a memoir one I can't seem to put down.

Word Count Wednesday #1

WHAT AM I WORKING ON?

I've been working on a few poems based off of recent events in my life some of the good times and a few of the bad. I have yet to post any of them on my blog since the majority of them most are unfinished or still in the idea phase.

HOW DO I FEEL ABOUT THE PROCESS?

Being in this class has inspired me to branch out as a writer, has given me the creative means to do so, and has revived my passion for writing that has recently been missing. It's difficult for me since the ideas that lie within my own head are trapped by my inability to find the right words that can accurately portray my feelings to the reader. However, this class and this creative group of individuals have allowed me to begin to discover the possibilities despite my current predicament.

WHAT AM I READING NOW?

Currently, I have read the beginning chapter of The Road by Cormac McCarthy as well as started the novel Girl On A Train written by British author Paula Hawkins. Both of which I received for Christmas.
